Поделите учеников на 3-4 команды по 5-7 человек в каждой. Главная цель конкурса – повышение интереса (мотивации) к изучению английского языка и приобщение к чтению литературы на английском языке. Одна из задач конкурса - расширение лексического запаса учеников. Перед конкурсом дети по группам получают задание составить кроссворды по книге о Гарри Поттере на английском языке. Лучшие кроссворды используются в ходе проведения конкурса.

Во время состязания дети совершенствуют навыки понимания английской речи на слух, навыки чтения иноязычных текстов и говорения на английском языке, а также практикуются в письме и переводе с английского на русский.

Конкурс привлекает учащихся, так как они вовлечены в различные формы учебно-коммуникативной деятельности: объясняют по-английски названия разных предметов и существ, ищут соответствие между предложениями в тексте, отвечают на вопросы, отгадывают кроссворд, расставляют предложения в тексте в логической последовательности и т. п.

За правильные и полные ответы команды получают красные звездочки, за неполные и не совсем точные ответы – синие. В конце конкурса каждая команда подсчитывает количество красных и синих звездочек, таким образом, определяется победитель. Кроме того, ведущий конкурса “The world of Harry Potter” определяет самых лучших знатоков книг о Гарри и вручает им медали “I am the best at Harry Potter Books”.

III. You can meet a lot of unusual things, magic creatures and interesting places in Harry Potter books. Tell us what the following things mean.

 

Команды вытягивают по 3 карточки с названиями предметов или волшебных существ, встречающихся на страницах книг о Гарри Поттере. Они должны объяснить их по-английски.

 

Aragog, Dobby, Privet Drive, Muggles, the Basilisk, Hogsmeade, Tom Riddle, the Forbidden Forest, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

                                                       

Possible answers:

1. Aragog is the largest spider of the size of a small elephant living in the Forbidden Forest who was saved by Hagrid many years ago.

7. Tom Riddle is the name of Voldemort when he was sixteen years old.

8. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is the most powerful dark wizard Lord Voldemort who killed Harry’s parents but could kill Harry himself.

9. The Forbidden Forest is a place where Hogwarts students were not allowed to visit because this forest was full of dangerous beasts.

 

IV. The students of Hogwarts study different subjects like in any other school but these subjects are different from ordinary ones. The teachers who teach these unusual subjects are unusual too.
